"The correspondence between Philippe Lambercy (1919-2006) and his friends, peers and colleagues covers a pivotal period when the revival of the art of fire, ceramics, was in full swing. These exchanges are all the more valuable given that the conditions for this art have changed completely with the 21st century. Philippe Lambercy has maintained an ongoing correspondence with three recipients. The main one is the fruit of a long friendship with Daniel de Montmollin that began in 1953, when neither of the two future ceramists had a proper studio of their own. Those early years were marked by ignorance and the need to learn in order to rediscover the meaning and deep roots of the craft."
