Mica is the name of a family of minerals, from the group of silicates sub-group of phyllosilicates formed mainly of aluminum and potassium silicate.

With quartz and feldspar, it is one of the constituents of granite.

Mica is used for its fire resistance properties, its chemical inertia, its covering power and its acoustic insulation capacity.

In this form it is used as filler in paints, coatings, cob, plastics, ceramics etc.
