Ceramics is a ‘technical vocabulary’ designed to provide an inventory of the materials and skills developed by man over the last 25,000 years. All the components involved in the production process are presented here, along with firing methods and the countless possibilities for decoration. The aim of the book is to create a terminology for methods and ‘recipes’ that have never before been brought together and described in such detail. 650 entries and almost 900 photographs (reports, laboratory photos, macros and rare items) reinforce the exhaustive nature of this work, which has been in progress for over twenty years. The rich iconography makes the book easy to read, without detracting from the rigour of its content.
