GREEN CHROMIUM OXIDE

Natural green pigment

Molar mass: 152,00

Gives green tones from 0.5% to 4%, associated with tin bright pink-reds.

Very versatile, it contains a wide range of colors as it can produce red, yellow, pink, brown or green depending on the base glaze used and the temperature.

Chromium oxide alone is rather refractory and does not dissolve in the glaze as quickly as iron, copper or cobalt oxides.

Green chromium oxide, used as an addition of 0.5 to 4% in glazes.

Contains 98.80% Cr2O3 and 0.30% water soluble salts.

Depending on the other oxides and the type of glaze with which it is used, chromium oxide develops shades ranging from green to brown to yellow.

GREEN CHROMIUM OXIDE

Used in the manufacture of green glazes.

In low temperature glazes, it can produce reds and oranges.

With tin oxide, it can produce pinks.

Mixed with high lead content, yellow.

Chromium oxide can migrate in small spots onto other glazes during firing.

Toxic product.
