LIGHT MAGNESIUM CARBONATE
In glazes: Light magnesium carbonate reduces the tendency to crack, in small proportions decreases the melting temperature and improves the gloss.
In larger proportions, it increases the melting temperature and produces a strong matting effect.
Magnesium makes the enamel surface harder and more resistant
MAGNESIUM CARBONATE
Natural product slightly soluble in water, which decomposes at 900 ° C and is used in terracotta and sanitary pastes, as well as for the manufacture of refractory bricks.
It is a source of magnesium in ceramics and a high temperature flux.
When introduced in glazes up to 10%, it produces semi-matt surfaces.
It is frequently used to adjust the temperature of glazes, as it lowers their melting point.
It also seems to promote adhesion.
Same as Magnesium Carbonate only a finer grade.
Used as a high temperature flux in glazes (up to 10%) producing a semi matt surface.
Larger quantities give an opaque dry appearance and may cause crawling and pin holing.
Formula: MgCO3
